Skulltistics 101: Session Zero
The term “Session Zero” comes from the world of tabletop role-playing games. Before players roll dice or dive into the story, there’s a setup session - “Session Zero” - to establish ground rules, clarify expectations, and make sure everyone is starting on the same page. It’s the foundation for the adventure ahead.
I’ve borrowed this same concept for my work. A Session Zero with me isn’t about swords (insert Tarot pun here) and dragons - it’s a discovery call and level-setting conversation. Here’s how it works:
Discovery: We talk through what’s going on for you - whether it’s career, business, or life direction. This gives me a clear picture of where you’re starting and what you want to change.
Alignment: Just like in the original “Session Zero,” we make sure we’re aligned on goals, expectations, and boundaries. You’ll know what working together looks like before you commit.
Next Steps: At the end, you’ll have clarity on whether we’re the right fit, and a roadmap for where to begin if we move forward.
Think of Session Zero as your pre-adventure briefing: no pressure, no commitment - just space to get oriented and make sure the journey ahead feels right.
